Interesting Fact(s):    Prior to the Civil War, Mitchel would teach astronomy, philosophy and mathematics.  He was largely responsible for the establishment of the Naval Observatory.  Mitchel would also approve, and provide resources, for the Andrews Raiders, in their attempt to steal the Confederate locomotive, the General, which would be called "The Great Locomotive Chase."
