Interesting Fact(s):    Tyler, before the war, was engaged in hunting, and trapping, in what is now, the mountains of West Virginia.  With the outbreak of the Civil War, Tyler would be elected colonel, of the 7th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.  The man he defeated for this colonelcy, would later go on to win election, as President of the United States - James A. Garfield.  After leading troops at Antietam, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville, Tyler would be reassigned to the defenses of Baltimore, a post he would have through the end of the war.  After the war, another, wartime-general-officer-turned-president, Rutherford B. Hayes, would appoint him postmaster of Baltimore.
