Interesting Fact(s):    Stevenson, an 1838 graduate, of West Point, would serve on the frontier, after graduating.  He would serve in the 5th Infantry, during the Mexican War.  Due to a mix up, his resignation was not received, by the War Department, and he would be dismissed from the service, on June 25, 1861.  Stevenson would enter the Confederate Army, as colonel of the 53rd Virginia Infantry.  Promoted brigadier general, in February 1862, his command would be sent west.  He would serve with Kirby Smith's army, during the Kentucky campaign, and would receive promotion, to major general, in October 1862.  Stevenson would serve, in John Pemberton's army, at Vicksburg, and would be paroled, after the surrender of Vicksburg.  He would be present, at the remainder of the battles, of the Army of Tennessee, starting at Chattanooga.  While not participating, in the battle of Franklin, he was still active in that portion of the campaign, on guard duty at the Duck River.  After the war, he would engage in civil, and mine engineering.
